Is it the roof or the whole conservatory that needs replacing?

Almost always just the roof, because the frames and the base underneath a conservatory are usually sound and it was the roof that was never built to make the room usable.

Polycarbonate and older glass roofs were never built to make the room habitable. The frames and the base underneath are normally sound, which is why a new roof fixes the room without rebuilding it.

Frames that have moved, a base that was never right, or a roof shape that will not carry the weight. Jerry checks all three on the visit and tells you plainly if a solid roof is not right for yours. That is a free visit either way.

The old glass or polycarbonate comes off and a new insulated roof goes on the frames you already have. You get a plastered ceiling inside and tiles outside. This is the work that turns a conservatory back into a room you use in January.

Insulated Panel Roofs

Around half the cost of a tiled roof, and 1 to 2 days on site. Insulated panels replace your old polycarbonate or glass, keeping your existing frames.

Fitted in 1 to 2 days, for around half the cost of a tiled roof. It is much quieter in rain and far warmer than polycarbonate.

You ring, Jerry visits and checks the frames and the base, you get a written price, and then the old roof comes off and the new one goes on.

What does a new conservatory roof cost?

Ring and ask: Jerry comes out, looks at the frames and the base, and puts a fixed written price in front of you, and that number does not move.

Will my new roof meet building regulations?

Yes. We handle the whole process and hand you a Building Control certificate when the job is done.

How long does the work take?

Most tiled roof replacements take 2 to 5 days on site depending on the size and shape of the conservatory. Panel roofs are usually finished in 1 to 2 days.

Can my existing frames take a solid roof?

Usually yes, because modern systems weigh about the same as the glass they replace, but we check first, and if your frames cannot take it we will tell you straight rather than fit it anyway.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not for a roof replacement on an existing conservatory. Building regulations approval is a separate thing and we take care of it.

Will it really be warmer in winter and cooler in summer?

Yes. That is the whole point of an insulated roof, and it is also far quieter in heavy rain.

What guarantee do I get?

A 10 year workmanship guarantee on our installation, plus the manufacturer's own warranty on the roof system itself.

How much does a new conservatory roof cost?

It depends on the size and shape of your conservatory and on which system you choose. An insulated panel roof comes in at around half the cost of a tiled roof. We give you a written fixed price after a free survey, and the number we write is the number you pay.

Do you use subcontractors?

The fitters who come to your house are our own regular teams, not a crew hired for the week. Jerry is connected directly to every job, so if something needs sorting out you are talking to the person who priced it.

Can I see one of your finished roofs?

Yes. We do not run a showroom, because the cost of a showroom ends up in your quote. What we keep instead is a list of customers who are happy to show you their finished roof in a real house. Ring and ask, and we will see who is near you.

Will you still answer the phone in three years?

We are a Chester firm and Jerry has been doing this for 40 years, working for himself since 1985. The 10 year workmanship guarantee is written down, not said. The firm that fits your roof is the firm that answers the phone in year three.
